Yesterday my wife and I headed out in the morning to check out a field of flowers near the Gatekeeper’s museum on Lake Tahoe’s north shore. The flower field did not disappoint. Lupine as tall as my wife, intermixed with several other species of flowers, was growing in what was probably once lake bed. Since the drought has drained Lake Tahoe’s level, and the spring rains kept things moist, we had a rare park and shoot extravaganza right at lake shore. Now if only the sky had cooperated a bit more. We could have used some color at sunrise, and sunset just got rainy, so mostly we lounged around and went kayaking. But here are a few shots of the dawn on Lake Tahoe. All images were taken on Nikon d300 and D3’s. Most used a polarizing filter to try and get the flowers to pop out and separate from the sky.
